Arsenal are on the verge of beating Barcelona, Chelsea and Liverpool to signing the signature of Leicester winger Riyad Mharez.
Mharez was one of Leicester’s stand-out players in their successful clinch of the Premier League title in 2016. Mahrez was named the PFA Player of the Year following the remarkable season but was unable to replicate the same form during the season just past.
It’s understood the Algerian International was looking for a move away from the King Power Stadium following the 2016 campaign, but agreed to stay for one last season to help the team in their Champions League bid.
The team had a quite successful campaign which no one expected, reaching the quarter-final stages of the competition to be beaten on a scoreline of 2-1 by a strong Athletico Madrid side.
After three years at the King Power Stadium, the playmaker is ready to move on, confirming earlier in the month that he would seek a summer move.
With Barcelona turning their attention to other players, Arsenal seem in pole position to sign the winger in a deal worth £50 million which could potetially be wrapped up this week.
