Some have argued that Jozo Simunovic failing a medical to move to Italian Serie A side Torino last summer was one of the best things to happen to Celtic during the Summer 2016 transfer window. Based on his form for the Glasgow side, it’s hard to argue against it.
They could be set to net £8m from his sale to Newcastle or Huddersfield with Spartak Moscow and Burnley also expressing interest.
The 22 year old Croatian international would be interested in a move down south and with competition being rife in the Celtic line up, Brendan Rodgers might be willing to let him go if the price is right considering they have Danish international Erik Sviachenko waiting in the wings to partner the now remarkably consistent former Man City player Boyata.
Zoran Krneta of Star Sports and Entertainment, who represent Simunovic, said: ‘Jozo (Simunovic) is in no rush. We have clubs calling showing an interest all the time but as far as I’m aware no offers have been made.
‘I’m sure Peter Lawwell will let us know if an offer is accepted but until then he is looking forward to next season with Celtic.’
Have we seen the last of Jozo Simunovic in a Celtic shirt?
