Celtic have seen off competition from Chelsea, Man City and Man United to secure the signature of Irish Wonderkid Barry Coffey. The youngster starred for Tipperary side, Nenagh AFC, helping them win their first ever FAI Under-17 Cup title in 2016 and recently played in a tournament in Rotterdam for Chelsea.
He was offered contracts by both Manchester clubs but opted for the famous Glasgow Celtic. He has signed a 3 year deal with the Scottish champions and will be looking to make an impact on the club as soon as possible.
He has recently played in Scotland, helping Ireland win the Victory Shield in Edinburgh earlier this year. The Tipperary native excels in the centre attacking midfield position just behind the striker and will be joining up with the treble winner’s development squad.
Will he be the next star out of Lennoxtown?
